Pulmonary Function Test (PFT) available at Silver Birch Diagnostic Center

A Pulmonary Function Test (PFT) is a set of diagnostic tests that evaluate the functioning of the respiratory system, particularly the lungs. These tests measure how well a person can breathe and how effectively the lungs are taking in and expelling air. PFTs are commonly used to diagnose respiratory conditions such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and pulmonary fibrosis.

A PFT is a group of tests that measure how well your lungs work. It evaluates how efficiently you can move air in and out of your lungs and how well oxygen enters your body. PFTs typically include spirometry, lung volume tests, and diffusion capacity tests.

During a PFT, you will be asked to breathe into a machine called a spirometer. The test measures various lung volumes and capacities, providing information about lung function.
